EDUCATION PROGRAM
Liberia’s education system remains fragile due to the impact of the prolonged and brutal civil war that lasted for over 14 years in the country. The system is still in the rebuilding process, as many Liberian students still lack access to quality education and better learning facilities. The country’s education system is considerably behind most other African countries in almost all statistics regarding education. The system was referred to as “messy” due to the poor performance of high school students in the country’s senior national exams. Knowledgeable about these challenges, we at Wesley United Football Academy attach value and place extra emphasis on our kids acquiring quality education. This will remain our focus in order to prepare our aspiring kids for successful and long-lasting careers aside from football. With support from our lead partner, Louretta Cares Foundation, our education program does not only focus on the provision of basic learning skills (reading, writing), and moral guidance, but also create a learning environment that enables them to do collaborative and successful teamwork, enhance their ability to do research and defend new ideas. Based on the technological advancement within our everyday lives, we are also seeking computer science education for our kids to experience new technologies and gain an additional understanding of how technology works and how it impacts their daily lives. we are hoping to established a network of international partners that will assist us in providing scholarship opportunities for our outstanding kids at the academy. Since our establishment in 2021, thus far we have help paid fees of many kids of our academy and seeking scholarship opportunities for outstanding players in the United States.
Football Program
Our primary objective at Wesley United Football Academy is the wellbeing of our student athletes. We seek to cultivate their minds and provide resources to enhance their athletic competency and skill level to prepare them for successful careers as professional footballers at any level. We want to provide opportunities for them to simultaneously obtain a grade A education while nurturing sound character, work ethic and a “you can do it” attitude. Education makes up the foundational building blocks to success.
As such, Wesley United Football Academy is designing a student athlete scholarship program. This scholarship program will provide a graduate pathway for students with strong academic potential to have the opportunity to further their education with partnering boarding schools in the U.S and Europe. With our elite coaching staff, our players undergo eminent skilled training, including individual tactics while guided by renowned professional coaches.
We also encourage mind development; thus, we have a wide variety of cognitive skills and decision-making training to help develop our players on the pitch. Our hope is that our student athletes will grow into professional athletes with a firm foundation and will use their professional platform to inspire, create and lead positive change in Liberia and the world. With this in mind, Wesley United Football Academy believes that professional football training at the academy level is a gateway to prepare the next generation of not only professional players but extraordinary individuals. We believe in our athletes; they are the future of Liberia, as such we are working endlessly to provide them the utmost resources to ensure they win not only on the field but in life.
Mentorship
Wesley United Football Academy Mentorship Program
At Wesley United, we pride ourselves in not only developing great athletes on the field, but in developing exceptional young men and women off the field.
As part of our investment in developing the future of our athletes, our mentorship program gives our young men and women access to some of the top professionals in the country through internships and speaker series.
Internship
For 2 months out of the year, our students get paired with leaders in the private and public sector for professional development and direct mentorship.
They get to gain professional industry knowledge, while learning character development from successful and respected leaders. At the end of their internships, each student presents on their experience.
SPEAKERS
Every month our athletes get to hear from a diverse group of influential speakers, who share with them knowledge and motivation through speeches and workshops.
The aim of our speaker series is a focus character development.
